Truth and Lie

Principle of Ying Yang saying that there are many opposing matters around us in the world, for example good vs evil, dream vs reality, and same goes to truth and lie. Well in previous blog I had discussed about dream vs reality with their contrast features. Here I will discuss on truth and lie.

Truth is opposed by lie, which truth being the state of being in accordance with fact or reality, on the other hand lie is defined as to hold something which one knows is not the whole truth to be the whole truth, intentional.

In my own point of view, lie can be interpreted in 2 different contexts. First to hide the truth or not willing to let others know the real meaning or context. Secondly with good intention to protect others from getting inflicted by knowing the truth. Either one has its pros and cons.

Actually, my personal view was that either truth or lie is a double edged sword. Why did I said so?

Because by knowing truth or lie, there are always two possible outcomes: feeling good or feeling bad, isn't it? Don't you agree with that?

On the other hand, the outcomes of telling truth or lie also depends on the context of the speaker(s) and interpreter(s) / listener(s). Of course good news can be very entertaining, however bad news will be very sad and depressing.

Once truth or lie is being revealed, it can no longer hide itself, It had revealed its identity, to both speaker(s) and interpreter(s) / listener(s). Truth or lie can be known by listening, seeing, hearing, touching and searching. What I am trying to portray here is that once one had seen it, heard about it, thought about it, truth or lie will revealed itself through. Just like in context of dream vs reality in my previous blog (http://magnumsst.blogspot.com/2012/05/dream-reality-opposed-or-similar.html). In fact the duo can be linked with current topic: truth and lie. How??

Just like someone lying to others, where people believes on him / her, in fact those people who believe are dreaming, because they haven't wake up to face the reality, they are being in the state of disillusionment, Perhaps the someone has done it intentionally or unintentionally. However bear in mind that lie can hardly hide itself long from people's mind, one day when lie revealed, and that will be the time where people know about the truth. That also marks the time where people who believes in lie previously (dreamers) have to face with the truth in reality. All happens just about in a matter of time.

Truth or lie, by revealing itself, brings about certain meaning or agenda, depending on interpretations of people knowing it.

Human are bound to choice, where they can choose to accept or deny the meaning behind truth or lie. People can choose to accept or deny about a lie, however once truth is being known, one can hardly deny its presence. Truth is almost always true, whether you like it or not.

All in all, truth or lie can be protective to one side of people, on another side of people it can be devastating, all depending on interpretation of the fact(s) being good or bad. In reality, not all truth brings about good feelings, similarly not all lie brings about anger or bad feeling. Once you had seen, or heard about truth, you have to accept it because it cannot be changed, unlike lie where it may be twisted around.

What you see may not be what you get, what you heard may not be what you think, but reasoning will draw some conclusions behind it, and when you get to know that it was the truth, then you have no choice other than to accept it as it is to be. Whatever happens behind it no longer serve its importance, truth always a truth, until and unless one forgets about it, otherwise it remains as truth itself. Remember the feeling inflicted upon knowing the truth is permanent, either good or bad feeling.

Dream & Reality: Opposed or similar?

Dreams may be horrible or wonderful. As for many people, they always fond of having wonderful dreams, similarly it happens to me as well.

Wonderful dreams sometimes come into my mind, in which whatever I expect in reality occurs in my dreams, all my bucket lists seemed to be fulfilled. But upon waking up, dreams remain dreams, fantasy remains as fantasy, they are still not real, though.

Reality mostly opposed of my wonderful dreams, things that I always think of, appeared too ideally inside my dreams, I realize those are just fantasies, but I chose to enjoy that short temporary moments of joyness and perhaps, pseudo euphoria. Soon and later, in daytime when I am facing reality, it hurts, causing pain, feeling of sorrow.

Well, inside my dreams, island become land, which was filled with much activities, happiness, and I realize those were dreams, I gonna be excited shortly, but the cruelness of reality comes much aggressive and longer duration of pain and sorrow feeling, which I have no choice but to bear with it.

What you see may not be what you get or think, but reasoning will tell the real meaning behind your visual memories, they don't just happen in front of your eyes for nothing. Perhaps they are trying to confer some hidden meanings which I have to justify those wisely. I don't always judge something by just simply glance or look through. However I can't avoid that whatever I seen remains reality, they can't be just dreams. The visual context may differ with exact context, but seriously does them differ much??

Sometimes I told myself, whatever I seen was something very casual or usual, but thorough judgement and justification did comes with similar meaning with visual interpretation. And thus I told myself, FACE THE REALITY!!!

"WAKE UP FROM UR FANTASY DREAM!! You are living in world full of reality". I realized that I have to accept the fact that most of unhappy events or experiences will come along with me throughout my life journey, I can't be euphoric all the while, but if I really get a chance into it I gonna appreciate it for long, because happiness is cure to my pain.

Island still remains as island, island hardly become land. I understand it, and I accept as it is to be, being part of my life, REALITY, with dreams and fantasies as my sources of euphoria, perhaps accompanied by some real life pleasurable moments. Hahahahaha.

Life is full of choices

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Since born we were bound to decision making, and being guided by our family members. However as we grow older to teen age, we began to bear responsibilities behind each of our decisions.

And when I looked back at the poem above, I began to recall my situations, where since I entered university, I had to learn to decide by my own, and be responsible for the consequences. I am not sure how capable I am to learn to adapt to this kind of situation, however it was inevitable, I was far apart from my family, I had to learn to handle situations by my own.

Sometimes I find myself able to handle decision making wisely, but not always. Apparently there will be time where I was in dilemma, especially when two options were given, but only one option was allowed to be, there won't be such ideally win - win situation, then there will be time where proper justification of pros and cons required, it was not easy, and you can't foresee what will be the consequences of each decision made, you just can walk step by step along your life journey based on decision made. Just like the above sentences "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both, And be one traveler, long I stood, And looked down one as far as I could, To where it bent in the undergrowth".

Therefore I was stuck in my own timeline, where I can't simply let go of my past, at the same time wondering about mysterious future in front of me. I hardly step on either one, because once I step on it, I have to sacrifice the other one, thus I was bound to my own dilemma.

As the time goes by, I had been exposed to various people, whose being kind and friendly , hippocratic, realistic, futuristic, idealistic and many more. And with those experiences I acquired along my journey, I began to see a light in my path, seems to be giving me some clues about my dilemma.

So I am now prepared to make my wise decision, so that I no longer stuck in my own path.

Strong and overcome your deep darkness

“If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.” - Mary Pickford

Beyond childhood, you may have experienced setbacks or letdowns for which you clearly recall the reasoning. Often we are so opposed to change that the slightest sign a new way of doing things isn’t working out becomes the signal to stop trying. We are creatures of habit, and breaking the mold we’ve created for ourselves is a challenge few feel they have the time or the energy to face.

Failure does upset some of us, but as well provides lesson to be learnt, reminding us that the outcomes of your decision, especially when you are adolescent whose you have to be responsible for each action / decision to be made, You yourself accountable for your own choice. Life does comes with choices, although  not always, instead sometimes.

Realizing the fact, I have to justify each of my action / decision wisely as I have to bear the consequences afterward, which sound sweet if I made it right, or otherwise feel harsh when sadness comes in.

“All of us are born with a set of instinctive fears- of falling, of the dark, of lobsters, of falling on lobsters in the dark or speaking before the Rotary Club, and of the words “Some Assembly Required.” - Dave Barry

Where all else fails to stop us from achieving what we want from life, fear steps in. We experience fear on both conscious and unconscious levels, and it is one of the most limiting emotions we possess. In some cases fear is justified, and even healthy.

For example, a person contemplating crossing a busy street will harbor a healthy fear of being struck by two tons of rapidly moving steel commonly known as a motor vehicle (at least, if he or she is a reasonably sane person who understands the basic laws of physics: moving car + walking person = splat). This fear breeds caution, which causes the person to look both ways for oncoming traffic and wait for an appropriate time to venture across the road.

However, unjustified fear- which can be just as crippling and realistic as justified fear- is more often the case when fear is a factor. Not many people risk their lives on a regular basis. Humiliation, rejection, and failure top the list* of limiting fears that can be overcome with practice and determination.

Humiliation occurs everywhere, from the beginning of school life till the end of life, depends on situation, some people experienced it almost everyday. The feeling doesn't looks good, and one can never understand until he / she experienced it, which I believe will occur to most people nowadays.

Rejection can be in many senses, like application for jobs, universities, colleges, scholarships, relationship etc. I had experienced it few times, like during application for foreign scholarship, entrance to "apek" varsity etc. However I had realized these were part of my journey of life, and being lessons to be learnt.

Failure varies depends on people's individual perception. I kept on straining myself to overcome my own limit and thus whenever I can't achieve my expectation, I considered myself failed. However after serious reflection and thorough thinking, I knew that my efforts may not be sufficient but I still can work harder in subsequent attempts. I shouldn't being down, but instead keep strong and move forward.

* Actually, spiders top the list of fears for most people. Arachnophobia- fear of spiders- is the most common type of fear in the world. However, fear of spiders is completely justifiable, as spiders are creepy eight-legged insects with fangs, alien eyes, and a tendency to drop on you out of nowhere.

One of the easiest and most successful methods of dealing with fear is exposure therapy, which is actually facing your fears one small step at a time. If you don’t feel you can handle exposure therapy alone, enlist a friend to participate- especially if you can find a friend who doesn’t fear the same things you do. With exposure therapy, the objective is to experience fear to a small degree several times, so that each time it becomes easier to conquer. (Please note that exposure therapy does not apply to every situation. For example, if you are afraid of flying, it is not recommended that you leap from successively higher perches and attempt to become airborne.)

Living in the past? Time to look forward

“Upon our children, how they are taught, rests the fate- or fortune- of tomorrow’s world.” - B. C. Forbes

The things we learn in childhood aren’t easy to forget- mostly because we don’t actively remember them. It is far harder to dislodge subconscious thought. When we are unaware not only of why we embrace or avoid certain things, but also unaware of the fact that we are embracing or avoiding them, pinpointing the roots of our actions is a difficult process.

Childhood lessons don’t always come from our parents, and often not even the messages we received from them were intentionally placed there. For example, if your parents raised you to be helpful, courteous, polite, and giving, you may have learned those lessons so well that the very idea of doing something for yourself makes you cringe- and you may not know why. On the other hand, if your parents gave you everything you wanted without you ever asking for it or lifting a finger, you may project those same expectations on everyone around you- again, with no idea why you’re doing it, or even that you are doing it at all. Many times, outwardly selfish people are shocked to discover that others perceive them as selfish. They may even believe themselves the kindest, most benevolent people they know.

Whatever happened in the past remains lessons to be learnt, however one should look forward for better changes. As the saying goes: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is present", that's why today is a gift for us everyday.
